Sent (The Missing, Book 2)
Margaret Peterson Haddix

I enjoyed the first two books in Haddix's Shadow Children series, Among the Hidden and Among the Imposters. They are short, fast reads. They give students just enough to have a great discussion on right vs wrong, gray areas, and who should be in charge of what.
I'm not a huge series fan, give me a trilogy at best, because I just don't have enough time with all the wonderful books releasing each month! That's the reason I haven't finished The Shadow Children. I know just enough to recommend the first two books and then students decide if they want to continue so I'm good.
Found, the first book in The Missing series, was a huge hit with me and the 6th graders this past school year. It has just enough intrigue, just enough action, just enough history, to make it interesting but not bogged down. Although longer than The Shadow Children books, it is still a fairly fast-paced read!
Sent promises to focus on a few of the characters we met in Found. They are "sent" back to their regular time-period from whence they were kidnapped many years ago. Unfortunately back then, they were supposed to be killed! How will this issue be resolved? We shall see in August!
That's what I'm waiting on, how about you?
For other Waiting picks - see Jill at Breaking the Spine!
I like that cover. Very imposing.
ReplyDeleteI've always meant to read her books, but the only one I've ever read is Running Out of Time. I'll have to nab a few this year to read.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really interesting book! Thanks for sharing.
